10 Foods to Increase Your Sex Drive

Power foods:

We have all heard of them and may have investigated how and why they work so wonderfully for our bodies and our brains. So let’s get even more specific and find out what foods are also great for our sex drive and stimulate our senses. Of course add organic to this and we will be really raring to go!

Foods that have been prized in many cultures for their sexually stimulating effects have circulatory, relaxant and muscle strengthening results or a visual, tactile or sensory impact that stimulates the psyche. It is said that the brain is the largest sexual organ in the body.

Here is a list of delicious, inviting foods we should all try and let’s anticipate they will get us in the mood and get our mojo going!

Chocolate or Cocoa:

What a great place to start. As the Aztecs referred to cocoa as nourishment for the gods it seems only fair that we should be sharing its power. In its pure form it has more antioxidants than green tea or red wine. It also contains a stimulating naturally occurring substance known as phenylethlamine, which promotes a sense of excitement and well being. Maybe that is something to investigate, a piece of chocolate a day could lead to a more active sex life! Of course keep it low on sugar and organic.

Watermelon:

Watermelon has been called the new Viagra. A researcher at the Fruit and Vegetable Improvement Centre, Texas A&M University, discovered that eating watermelon delivered Viagra-like effects on blood vessels throughout the body, which may increase libido. This cool, delicious fruit contains citrulline amino acid, which is good for the cardiovascular system, and helps relax the blood vessels in turn increasing sex drive.

Figs:

The fig’s appearance has been prized for its resemblance to the female sexual organs. The ancient Greeks valued them more than gold and it has long been associated with fertility. Along with Oysters, figs were one of Cleopatra’s favorite foods. They also taste divine and are very easy to share with a loved one.

Oysters:

Oysters improve dopamine levels, in turn boosting libido in men and women. They are also high in zinc, which is essential for testosterone production and healthy sperm. Need I say more?

Chilies:

Who hasn’t experienced that rush when eating a spicy chili dish? What makes a chili hot is capsaicin, which contains a natural chemical that actually raises your heart rate and triggers the release of endorphins and consequently revs up your libido.

Garlic:

Garlic contains allicin, thought to increase blood flow to the sexual organs. It is best raw and should be taken over a long period of time. The trick is not to put your partner off with the obvious side effects. As it is also a stimulant it should keep you awake at night for longer and one needs to fill in those sleepless hours with something other than counting sheep!

Celery:

Eating celery increases the pheromone levels in a man’s sweat making them more attractive to women, so next time you see a guy chewing on a celery stick don’t be surprised at the natural attraction, and they say that dieting isn’t fun! We must be sure the celery is organic as non organic celery is packed with chemicals and chemicals mess with our libido.

Avocado:

Another sexy fruit is the Avocado. The Aztecs name for it was “ahuacati” or testicle due to its shape and form. The Spanish Catholic priests forbade them from their parishioners because they found them so sexy. No wonder the Sicilian avocados are taking Europe by storm. How about trying one of my favourite recipes which combines avocados and chocolate together…..sounds peculiar but extremely delicious and very seductive! Just substitute organic ingredients where you can.

Pumpkin seeds:

Like Oysters, Pumpkin Seeds are also loaded with Zinc, which is vital for healthy sperm production. Zinc also prevents testosterone deficiency. They are also high in vitamin B, E, C, D, K and minerals including calcium, potassium, niacin and phosphorous. So roast and crunch away.

Asparagus:

Asparagus is loaded with vitamin B known as folate and this aids in increasing the production of histamine, which is important for a healthy sex drive in both men and women. It is also well know for it’s suggestive shape.

When it comes to staring a family sometimes a little help is needed along the way and what better way to encourage us than by eating our way to fertility whilst being healthy and having fun with our food at the same time. All that extra exercise in the bedroom can only be good for us too!
